Message to the World
We need to live with this understanding. Know that all people may have weaknesses like us. Instead of blaming others, find our own mistakes. If we live like this, adopting this method, it will help us, both in spiritual and worldly life. It will enable us to move forward as a good citizen. This is my advice.
“Quality, not quantity. Spiritual evolution is individual and cannot be a mass phenomenon. No meditation-technique franchises can do much good. Each individual is special,” he says.
For example, a person born a Muslim, if I advise him to sit quietly and chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ when he requests to engage in some spiritual practice, he won’t be able to follow it. Then, what to do? I first ask them if they do the Namaz 5 times. Some may say they don’t do so. If so, I tell them to do that first. By doing this for some time, the mind will begin to be quiet. Later, few “Zikr” in Sufism is given to them. These are connected to breathing and, hence, selected with care. When someone comes from another background, something suitable to him or her is advised. I don’t believe in a common formula. This is how I choose to advise on their spiritual needs.
Sri M also says: “Go to the core. Theories are of no use.”
His message seeks to transcend the outer-shell of all religions, by exploring their mystical essence and thus nurture the innate goodness in every human being.
Path of Enlightenment
How did Shri M experience Enlightenment?
Shri M's Guru?
Shri Maheshwaranath Babaji.
Maheshwaranath Babaji’s brief introduction:
Maheshwaranath Babaji is a direct disciple of Shri Guru Babaji (Mahavatar Babaji). Check out for more information about Mahavatar Babaji.
During his early stage of Shri M’s life, he has been trained by Maheshwaranath Babaji in the Himalayas for about 3 and a half years in Vedas, Upanishads, Meditation, Tantra, Sri Vidya, and Kriya Yoga.
Maheshwaranath Babaji then sends Shri M to involve in worldly life and suggest him to lead a simple householder life.
He also suggests Shri M to teach the Kriya Yoga to the worthy recipients.
As per his guru’s suggestion, Shri M lives a simple life and take up a Walk of Hope initiative to cover a distance of around 7,500 km by walk to spread the awareness of peace among all the religions throughout India.
Spiritual Practices Shri M Followed
Kriya Yoga is a five-fold technique to find the truth in oneself.
Kriya Yoga focuses on developing physical fitness, psychic balance, mental stability, intensifying intellectual faculties, and finally realize the soul residing in one’s own heart.
- Guru Mantra
- Kriya Yogasanas
- Kriya Kundalini Pranayama
- Kriya Meditation Techniques to Activate Subtle 7 Chakras
All the practices should be done through utmost respect and devotion for quicker results in one’s spiritual journey.
Shri M Enlightenment Experience:
The next three and half years, Shri M lived and traveled extensively through the Himalayas with his Master.
Maheshwarnath Babaji guided him right through his initiation, his Kundalini awakening, the grueling journey to Tholingmutt and, the eventual meeting with the Grand Master, Sri Guru Babaji also known as Sri Mahavatar Babaji.
“The rising of the kundalini, therefore, is the rising of consciousness from the gross to the subtle, the subtler and subtler levels until It reaches the highest stage in the Sahasrara chakra and the yogi enters into a deep trance which is an altered state of consciousness.”

Disciple Experience about the Guru
“In 2011, I read “Apprenticed to A Himalayan Master” by Shri M, and I knew, if EVER I were to get a guru, I would want one like him. That book changed my life in more ways than one. In 2012, Shri M decided to celebrate Guru Purnima in Trivandrum, where I was visiting and I had to meet him and see for myself. I had met him a long time ago at the age of 10 or 11, in 1978 in New Delhi. I was enthralled by him as he showed this amazing magic trick and to the young mind of mine, he was my magic “uncle Mumtaz”. Who knew that this magic uncle would turn out to be my guru 34 years later!! I myself cannot believe it as I write this.
The day I saw Shri M, whom I call my Babaji, I kind of knew, it was him. But as the next few days unfolded, I cannot even begin to describe the feeling of surety that came over me. That unflinching doubtless decision and yearning to be his student was something really new to me. I had never had such a yearning. It overwhelms you. The moment he accepted my request to take me as his student, everything changed. There is no looking back. This secure feeling is something new. There is no feeling like this I have experienced. It is beyond love. Maybe that is what they call devotion? I do not know because it is new to me!!”
